Dr. Adnan Kapo graduated in Political Science from Arizona State University in the United States and earned a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Sarajevo and the University of Delaware. He completed his PhD at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo. He served as an economic and foreign policy advisor to the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Haris Silajdžić, as well as an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Sven Alkalaj. He has extensive experience in the fields of politics, media, and management.
Furthermore, it is vital to emphasize why the Balkans are as necessary to Europe as Europe is to the Balkans. History provides us with profound lessons. The political 20th century began with the assassination in Sarajevo in 1914 and concluded with the genocide in Srebrenica in 1995. Is this not a sufficient reminder that the stability of the Balkans must remain a European priority?
Nearly 150 years have passed since the Berlin Congress, and the Balkans once again serve as a battleground for today's global powers or two political visions of the world.
The Biden administration's announcements that will renew the American alliance with Europe, and give support to the Western Balkans on the path of integration into NATO and the European Union, are encouraging.
A similar evil that has twice devastated Europe in the last century is active again creating the preconditions for new conflicts.
