03. October 2025 IGES

The overarching objective of the Academy was to equip participants with a clearer and more systematic understanding of how global political processes shape the strategic environment of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The second cycle of the Geopolitical Academy organized by the Institute for Geopolitics, Economy, and Security (IGES) was successfully completed following its implementation from September 9 to October 2, 2025, in Sarajevo. The program brought together 25 participants from across Bosnia and Herzegovina, reflecting a broad geographic and professional representation.

This specialized educational initiative in geopolitics was designed to deepen participants’ understanding of complex issues at the intersection of global, regional, and domestic political dynamics. Through a structured and analytically rigorous curriculum, the Academy provided a comprehensive framework for interpreting contemporary geopolitical developments and their implications for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The program addressed three core thematic pillars:

  • The projection of geopolitical power;
  • Twentieth- and twenty-first-century geopolitics and its reflection on the Balkans;
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina within the contemporary international order.

The overarching objective of the Academy was to equip participants with a clearer and more systematic understanding of how global political processes shape the strategic environment of Bosnia and Herzegovina. By strengthening analytical capacity and strategic literacy, the program sought to enable participants to approach the country’s complex political challenges with greater rationality, policy coherence, and long-term perspective.

The faculty consisted of distinguished scholars and practitioners, including:

  • Professor Sead Turčalo, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Sarajevo;
  • Professor Emir Hadžikadunić, faculty member at the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology and visiting lecturer at several universities abroad;
  • Dr. Adnan Kapo, Director of the Institute for Geopolitics, Economy, and Security (IGES).

All lecturers are affiliated members of IGES.

Upon successful completion of the program, participants were awarded certificates recognizing their graduation from the Geopolitical Academy.
